Hit the Trails: The Stunning Hiking Trails of Rivers Pointe Estates

One of the many things that makes Rivers Pointe Estates unique is our abundance of hiking trails. Imagine it now: a nice breezy spring walk as flowers begin to bloom; a relaxing bike ride on a warm summer day; watching the leaves turn in autumn on a cozy horseback ride.

The opportunities to explore the natural beauty of Rivers Pointe Estates are ample, and we can’t wait for our community to hit the trails with us. As the weather gets warmer and we spend more time outside, we wanted to share the latest in our network of trails with you.

Take the Scenic Route

River and city views are our favorites. To take advantage of our amazing views, we have an 8-foot wide walking and biking path that travels from the Village Center to the park overlooking the Ohio River. Here, you can watch the sun set or enjoy the perfect afternoon picnic. Spend time with your family and friends or have a quiet morning to yourself. Either way, you can then head back to the RIVERWORKS Community Club to check out the latest events. This path travels through the community, branching off into other trails and giving you a chance to say hello to your neighbors.

Hiking and Horses

To better observe the natural beauty of our community, we also have several hiking trails (some completed and some planned). Each also makes for a great horse riding path.

A color-coded map of our hiking trails

First is Bent Branch (the yellow trail on the map above), which is a half mile long. It’s a 10-minute walk or an 8-minute horse ride. It starts near the Village Center, branching off the main walking/biking path. At the end, you can either stop there or circle back on The Bootlegger, The Outlaw or Elizabeth’s Meadow

The Bootlegger (bright green on the above map) is a 9-minute walk or 7-minute horse ride. A little less than half a mile, its end points are near the Barn and towards the end of Bent Branch. Or you can loop back to the main path via Settler’s Loop (light blue on the map).

According to our master plan, Settler’s Loop will be just shy of a half mile and have the same walking and riding time as The Bootlegger. One of its end points will be halfway through The Bootlegger, giving you the perfect chance to loop around to the Barn or keep hiking.

Elizabeth’s Meadow (the red trail on the map) is planned to start right at the end of Bent Branch and head toward one of our many community greenspaces. At 0.6 miles, it will be a nice 14-minute walk or 12-minute ride, allowing you to take in plenty of natural greenery along the way. Stop and smell the roses and take a nice break at the greenspace or keep going and venture onto Buffalo Ridge or The Outlaw

For those who want something a little longer, Buffalo Ridge (the dark blue path) is perfect. It’s an 18-minute walk or 15-minute ride on this three-quarter mile trail that travels from one community greenspace to another. What’s more, Buffalo Ridge practically parallels the river, providing stunning views and serenity for the whole hike. It’s also the closest to Rivers Pointe Stables, so it’s perfect for horseback riding. Stop and sit for a bit at either end to take in the natural beauty or continue onto Elizabeth’s Meadow or The Outlaw, which both have an end point at a shared community greenspace.

Finally, there’s the big one: The Outlaw (bright pink on the map) is our longest planned trail. At almost one and a half miles, we estimate this trail will offer a 25-minute hike or 20-minute horse ride and will be perfect for the most ambitious in our community. You can start it either at one of our community greenspaces or at the end of Bent Branch. If you want something especially filled with fun and nature, this trail is the one for you. It will travel along a natural creek and pass through the community campsite, allowing for the chance to splash in the stream or meet up with friends.

You can also view each of our hiking trails on our interactive map. Simply choose “Trails” on the dropdown, then click each trail to see it highlighted with additional information.
